I formatted my hard drive to departition it and I reinstalled Windows ME (Necessary for XP install). Anyway, I haven't gotten around to reinstalling Windows XP in these past few weeks and I've noticed something unusual about Windows ME. I performed the same tests on www.2wire.com and found my connection seems to be MUCH slower on WindowsME. The most I've attained from any test is 900 kbits and usually average 600 kbits. On XP I was at 1600 max and averaged 1400. I don't know if its the OS or the drivers or what but I cant wait til i get some time to reinstall XP.

Plus, WindowsME sucks, I can't remember the last time I had so many errors! Oh wait, yeah I can. Before I got XP!

I'm not completely sure but I think they accelerate downloads by finding faster mirror sites and then downloading on multiple threads from different sites or even from the same one.
