I was reading the shoutbox and someone mentioned Eminem and his new song. I never heard the song nor knew what it was about until I read more of the shoutbox. Then I read it samples "Dream On" by Aerosmith. Wtf?
That's like Metallica doing a song with Ja Rule. Yikes.
Anyways, rap in general sucks. There's too much of it and it's polluting our airwaves. I agree with...and I can't believe I'm saying this...but I agree with Def on what he said about Eminem being uncreative. That goes for all rappers. All they do is sample lyrics and beats. Can't they make their own fvckin beats/lyrics/music. And why do all of those fvckers have to have a nickname??????? You can't be a rapper under your real name???
And they're stealing your money one way or another. If they're not robbing you at gun point, they're making lame ass cds for you to buy. They get one hit and that's it. And sometimes not even one hit. Look at City High. Anyone remember them? I do, not because they're any good or because I like them, but because they had a special on MTV. They had one hit....one hit and they get their own special. That same year, Linkin Park releases hit after hit from their debut album which happened to be the highest selling album of the year. They got no special on MTV.
Rap/hip hop/r&b is just a fad that isn't going away as fast as it should. Someone put some ointment on that rash. Every decade has their music.....ie, the 80's hair bands, the early 90's grundge music. It'll eventually go away.
It's just everyone was on the hip hop bandwagon. From fast food places to radio stations to soda pop companies, phone companies, etc etc etc. And its not because rap/hip hop is any good, it's just because it's a huge money making fad. Think the elmo doll from xmas's past and the Harry Potter movies and books. They got all hyped up before they were released and everyone had to have one or see it to be 'cool'. Nothing more, nothing less.
