View Full Version : Literati prog

Im starting a literati client and putting it here since there is no literati forum.

this is mainly directed towards nscopex

first thing ive started on other than converting my chess code into lit which is 5 player capable is the code to receive what moves have been made in a table you join. this is probably the hardest, i know it was in chess, so after this should be easy

cur1 = .readLong
lng1 = .ReadInt
For l1 = 0 To 255
alng1(l1, 0) = .ReadShort
alng1(l1, 1) = .ReadShort
Next l1
For l1 = 0 To 25
alng2(l1) = .ReadInt
Next l1
str1 = .ReadUTF
byt1 = .ReadChar
If byt1 = 0 Then
'some stuff here
End If
lng2 = .ReadInt
Debug.Assert False

is what i have so far. this gets the letters and their placement on the board.

but for some reason there are values associated with the letters i think as implied by this line from the classes

if(o[i1].equals(n[i1]))
throw new Error("Invalid alphabet for tileword: lowercase letter " + o[i1] + " is equal to uppercase version.");

or maybe its just to check the wildcard?
perhaps you know why this is so nscopex?

so far

nscopex
10-21-2003, 06:39 PM
So true... I'm not sure how the wild card will work. But i think the numerical values are much easier variables to use in the java. Instead of using the letters them selves, the letters are in a sort of encrypted state so people cane just make something to send the letters to the server as commands and make plays as fast as a chess engine does. I'm not sure though but it's kinda like instead of send the code "forfeit" to win a game in manipulating you gotta send the encrypted keeys for it. Just like that

nscopex

But the look is abosolutely amasing.

ever heard of literati buddy?

Idbeholda
11-17-2003, 02:50 AM
Yeah. I've tried it and it sucks ass. That's why I'm also making an open source board analyzer (no, it doesn't "scan" the board like lb or lab, but it runs faster than either) to put on my site, along with about 5 other programs. The reason none of them are up is because as of now, I have not had the time to get the final touches on any of the programs (ZQuest still being in the beta stage) and have been busy with work, school, and sex.

When I have the time to upload and compile **** I will, and LBK will possibly be up in the next few weeks, provided I can get some alone time and actually sit down for more than 20 minutes to program without being bothered.

Is "68" the table number? I would think so, but that's art. The design is amasing. And knowing what tiles are next, I'm impressed. Your skills will never cease to amaze me.

GOD
12-11-2003, 09:07 PM
thats pretty cool
if you release that let us know
i wouldnt PAY for it per se
but id definately use it

halcy0nical
12-11-2003, 09:12 PM
Yeah, 68 is the table number. It also detects when tiles are being moved, what they are changed to, what positions they go to, and so on, so in theory you could make a client that autoplays the game for you. It would work even better then programs that just "read the board", because it could see the opponents tiles as well as the future tiles and plan strategy using that information. Also, a program like this can be done in any game that allows kibitzing, ie being able to see all the cards your opponents have plus all the remaining cards in the game for Euchre, Hearts, etc. Note, the kibitz option is never used, but in a non kibitzing game you could already see all the information :-p

nscopex
12-11-2003, 09:15 PM
If kibitzing is not allowed, would It still pick up the information? Does it bypass the actual "allow kibitzing packet" when its unchecked?

halcy0nical
12-11-2003, 09:18 PM
Kibitzing doesn't matter at all as it is not used by the program to find out the game information, I was just saying in a game with no kibitz option you wouldn't really need to make a program for it since you can already see all the information, like in chess, there is no mystery piece your opponent might get randomly from the server to use.

nscopex
12-11-2003, 09:21 PM
Gotcha. I misread what you had written. Thats an amasing piece of work you have never the less.

nscopex
12-11-2003, 09:23 PM
I like the fact that you could engineise (made up word) it to work against your opponent. Why not try it? See what you could come up with. I'll gladly play against it. :-D

12-11-2003, 09:24 PM
It's all good, time to get back to studying for finals, I was just curious what was up with the Yahoo! world, everything seems the same for the most part except there are wannabe Yahoo! rappers now, too funny.

nscopex
12-11-2003, 09:27 PM
Not everything is the same. Lots has changed in the base. You cant run clients like you used to. Bypassing the security is a bit harder every now and then. But enjoy studying.

halcy0nical
12-11-2003, 09:30 PM
Hmm so boosting and cracking and all that is fixed? If so, I might have to find a way to do it again, outsmarting Yahoo! always feels good.

nscopex
12-11-2003, 09:41 PM
Well the boosting is fixed, last time i checked (months ago) it was. Cracking was never my forte.

I was thinking about it last night, and because of how the letters are distributed in Literati, you technically could choose which letters you get. Since the letters are stored in a queue format, which uses FIFO for dequeueing, you would just have to find the section of the applet in which the dequeue occurs, and change it from the normal FIFO to the position in the queue in which the tile you want resides. That is

Queue
A
B
C
D
E
F
Normally, you would get A B C, as dequeue pulls off the first element, but if you told it you wanted position 1, 4, and 5 instead of the normal position 0 it picks for each letter, you would get B, E, and F. I have not checked if an actual queue is used yet, it could be another similar data structure, or a linked list, but even then you could still iterate through the list until you get the letters you need. To do this you would have to modify the applet, so a complication might arise if your opponent using a normal applet doesn't understand how you got your letters and the game would crash, although as long as you resized the queue or linked list appropriately it should still recognize it as being unchanged. Oh well, back to studying, finals suck.

if you guys are there could i get a hint as to how to determine at the beginning what the tile queue is. i can't figure it out. all i know is that the packet you get when you first join a new table is always the same except for four bytes near the beginning, and the values that Mark_C mentioned for the letters are also encoded near the end of that packet. What are all those other 255's for and how do we use these letter values??? someone please give me a clue....
