The purpose of this thread is to help you all learn some basic skills useful in both programming and other computer areas. To get started go to www.try2hack.nl and do the challenges 1-8, I don't really care if you do 9 or not. If you beat level 8 I will reward you with the code for logging an ID into Yahoo! Games. :) Use this thread to get help on levels you are stuck on or brag to fellow users that you are further than them in Try2Hack :D. If you paste direct answers into this forum they will be taken out and you will not get rewarded even if you beat Try2Hack. Have fun, and good luck.

You are somewhat correct by looking in the source code for Level 2, but it will not show you the answer there. However, the source code does lead you to the location which has the username and password.

Look in the same place that you found the file for level 2 and you will find the file that contains the password for level 3.

There are 3 files that are created when level 4 loads. One of them contains the username and password, and it is not the one you were looking at.

Your welcome, and for level 6, the level tells you what kind of encryption it is, but it tells you in an encrypted way itself. I know that doesn't make a lick of sense, but hopefully you will figure it out. I think I might need to stop giving so many hints, otherwise people are gonna beat this game too easily hehe.

Good job in making it to 7 already, I guess your job as a network admin helped you get through level 6 quickly. The object isn't really to find a url, so I guess I will leave it at that so you don't wander too far off course.

Ahh I see level 7 wasn't sposed to have that error..They just happened to %%%% up when I got to the level lol. I made it past the level in 5 mins tho after I got the right page ;) Hey mods, do you mind if I post a prog I made, that cud help others with level 7, once they know what they're sposed to do? It doesn't pass the level for them, just a tool to help :) Hmmm now for level 8, looks tough!

Well it appears their server is down so you will not be able to fully complete level 8 =(. To get the credit though I need you to show me the exploit you would use if the server was working right. Also, to get the code I would appreciate it if you emailed me a short summary (1 to 2 sentences) of how you beat each level (1-8) so I can see that you actually beat the level and didnt just modify the urls. I am not trying to be a dick, just trying to see that you actually learned something, after all that was the whole point of doing this game. Good luck to all still working on beating try2hack, and congrats to our first finisher deadidus. :)

God i dont get level 2 at all, be more specific (i am really dumb) i know you need to get in the source, got it, now you need to find the location...does it have to do with the classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" ??? In level 2 it lists a certain file in the source code. Once you figure out how to obtain this file you open it and the username and pw are inside.

I got to level five... i found that the pw must be somewhere in the module.. i tryed all 4 of the "Const mc001A =" as the username and nothing seems to be working. I dont know mush about vb yet and i'm having trouble figuring out which variable goes with what.. can anyone help me?

OK well i figured out level 3, passed 4, and am on 5. But there is a problem. If its the correct place, i must download a prog someting about VB3 and when i do, it gives me some prog and Vbrun200.dll or something like that. But that Dll isnt registered in my computer so i cant open it. Now, i know how to register one, but Im not an administrator on my computer, and i need to put that .dll in my system folder so i can register it and it will work properly. But since im not an admin, i cant do it. What should i do?

Yes I know this is really old last post was in april but I learned a lot from this lol and all the new peeps should try it im trying to help people out so dont yell my head off im still on level 5 though. I tried it when I first came here and couldent get past level 2 but I been learning vb and all and im on level 5 and downloading a decompiler lol I know the prize isint valid any more or anything but its still something to learn from...

Well... I tried that hacking challenge awhile back. I got stuck at level 3 because I was retarded and didn't really do anything on my own. Now that a lot of time has passed and i've learned the correct way of doing things and crap. It took me about 30 - 35 minutes to crack just about all the levels.

Files Needed

Steps
download the VB program. its build in VB3 for a reason, cause there is a decompiler for VB3, and not above.
you can install the program to decompile, or just take the Level5.bas file i uploaded.

when opened, in the code, you will see an if txtusername statment. if is going through "Const mc001A" and taking letter placed in 56th position, 28th, 35 and building up a word.. password is the same. below is your answer.

56,28,35,3,44,11,13,21
51,31,30,51,16,45,24,29,26,19,28,11,30,19,25,24

then the rest is pretty easy from there.

Well I really don't know for sure what happens to the try2hack website, but ever now and then the server crashs. Eh, beats me why it does that. Yes, that game still goes on though.... I don't know about the prizes here anyway... I don't think anyone cares no more. Plus this forum is dead.

im at level 6 at the moment i think its to do with packet sniffing not 100% sure it looks that way to me. But level 2,4,and 5 was just bout decompiling the code and level 3 was sort of like level one but a small change !
