View Full Version : fav albums and why!
hello all, now that there is so much access to so much music how about folks posting here and telling everyone there favourite albums and records, with reasons why. don't be shy folks, surely there is no better way to sit and watch your ratmans boost your id's than chilling out with some top tunes flowing from your speakers, so lets hear what's good out there!!!1234567890
first off then, how about this for a beauty!! "goodbye yellow brick road" by elton john. folks, u got to listen to this album!!! this album came out when the taupin/e.john partnership was truly at its best and most experimental. slap on the cd and it may start off slow but soon builds into what must be 1 of the best albums ever, from the slow moving candle in the wind to the "flare-flapping beer induced all in wrestling" saturdays nights all right for fighting there is not a bad record on this album. personal favourites are grey seal, sweet painted lady, shoot, they're all top top records- listen up and enjoy!!
just got time to tell you about 1 more album tonight, this 1 was definitely in the top 5 albums of '99. "lucy pearl" by lucy pearl, where do u start?? put together the influences of tony!toni!tone!, tribe called quest and en-vogue, and what do u end up with? simple, the bomb, what a cool chillin' album. this album is like a martini, any time, any place any where. whether your getting ready for a night out on the town with your dancing shoes on, having a bit of a rave up around your house or just sitting with your honey getting it on, put lucy on the stereo and what ever you want to happen will happen, one question tho- whens the next album coming out???
no one got any good albums to recomend???? ah well, i'll carry on educating u guys. dust down your roach clips and change the water in your bong, this is one of the best movie soundtrack albums i've ever heard, "up in smoke" by cheech and chong. not only does this album have some funky tunes, "lowrider" and "searching" being good examples but it also has some classic passages from the film as well, strawberry's not here and shoot the moon! watch the film and buy the soundtrack, skin up and chuckle til your sides ache, i do anyways.

Oasis' new album
Red hot chilli peppers' too
ask any self respecting hip hop head who is number 1 and even now the answer should be KRS1, forget the rest K is king. "by all means necessary", i only bought this album in the uk 3 years ago, on import! before then my copy was a severely stretched old tdk tape from back in the day when half of the folks visiting this site weren't even a twitch in their daddies ballbag. if hip hops your thing, if u dont already have a copy of this album then get 1, i still play this album now and it still gets the head nodding and my hands playing the air mixing unit. BDP rocks!!
hey smev, i've heard the chili's album is serious bro, double thumbs up from you is it??
just listened to the new pink album to, sounds all good to me, will give full rundown after weekend.
tonights final album to blow your socks of is "the ultimate house party cd" by the jdj record label, don't be put off by the title, a "best party album in the world,EVER" it certainly is not. if you can find a copy of this cd the sleeve should let you know what kind of a trip you'll be going on, it reminds me of a typical friday/saturday night round my house before i grew up and had kids. for you ravers and whistle blowers ( you know who you are) out there this will put a smile on your face from the opening of track 1. it has the lot- pianos, guitars, funny wooo's and the icing on the cake, alarm bells which really send your senses out of control. hats off to dj andy chappell, superb from start to finish, a full steam ahead captain head blower, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesy now lol

Oasis has a new album? I'll have to check it out. no on elton john!
hey china, don't be so hasty on the elton john tip, he may swing the wrong way and have a dodgy haircut but believe me, this album rocks- just have a listen and you'll be surprised, guaranteed.
here's 1 for you folks who want to listen to the real sound of manchester- "singles" by the smiths, what a band!!! the morrisey+marr combo sure got it right and this album has the best bits from all the albums, ok, there are a few of the classics missing but on the whole most of them are there, girlfriend in a coma, this charming man, hand in glove, panic, etc etc etc, the list goes on. get your gladiolii out folks and torn levi's on and get depressed to the smiths. by the way, are you sure your not related to morrisey smev?? lol

Oasis are a Mancunian Band from UK.. they are frrom same town as me :) and yeah che ... the Chilli peppers get a 3thumbs up from me.. to back this up im gonna see them in March.. already got my tickets!! :)
the radio is the way to go folks
good call andy, i usually have radio1 extra blasting out of my comps speakers, the u.s. house show is a must listen, definitely on a smoother vibe tip than u.k. house. any peeps have any good radio links please post here, anything goes, grunge to easy listening!
my speakers kinda suck so i use my stereo sitting next to my computer :)
here's a question for y'all, who thinks the xylophone is uncool???
to those of you who say yes, give yourselves a few slaps about the face and check this guy out.... roy ayers, in fact i'll say it again in capitals, ROY AYERS. this guy is a god and deserves the maximum respect. a good album is "the collection" as it has most of his best tracks on, most recorded live at various venues as well. if u can ever get the chance to see him live do so, not only is he very funky and a musical genius he's funny with it- tip top entertainment assured! combine jazz with a xylophone and you have some sounds which any music lover will drool over, from the classic club floorfiller "running away" to the best cover of " do for love" you'll ever hear, this is definitely one for the christmas letter to santa and guaranteed to boost your kudos thru the roof., enjoy!
unfortunately andy, uk radio sucks most of the time so cd's and internet is my main source of music, we do have some good shows but usually once a week and at strange times.
oh yeah, for any folks who want to be picky, roy ayers actual instrument is a vibraphone, but hey, sounds like a xylophone to me!!!! and he still rocks!

Radio 1 with Chris Moyles owns che u bitch! hehe.. btw i got 1500w speakers (4 speakers and a woofer!!!!!! MUUAHHHHAAAAAAA.. i blast out oasis though :)
lol smev, chris moyles the fat bloater can kiss my hairy tea towel holder, the lard arse should have his jaws wired up, not to stop him eating but to stop him talking ****, some of his sketches are seriously funny tho!!
listen folks, not 1 album to recommend but a handful. what links "abbey road" by the beatles and "dark side of the moon" by pink floyd together?? 2 of the best and biggest selling albums of all time, answer- alan parsons. if any of you folks like listening to albums written around a single theme then a.p.p's (alan parsons project) albums are the business. he's done a bundle of albums, from "tales of mystery and imagination-edgar allan poe", "eye in the sky" to "the time machine", just pick any album by a.p.p and let this guy take you through a musical journey from which you will be whistling various tracks months after hearing whatever album you listened to. i was 15 when i first heard a.p.p and i've been hooked ever since ( first serious weed smoking sessions to a.p.p, along with styx, camel, led zep, rush, the doors, jimi h, deep purple, hawkwind, journey- the list is endless!!). personal faves are "eye in the sky", "turn of a friendly card" and his latest offering " the time machine". just try it peeps and enjoy!!!
if i'm going to get any money together on this site i got to stop making such long posts and start giving the 1 sentence mono-syllabic posts like the everybody else does lol;)

My favorite is KoRn's Follow the leader... I like it because they have been my fav band ever since theyve been together... I think they have the best music and i actually understand their lyrics im not talking about like understand them verbally but i mean i can understand why they have them how they are
waheyyyy, nice one surge, a proper response to my thread at last!!! never listened to any KoRn yet myself, are they the band who's lead singer squeels a lot? i'll download that track tonight surge and check it out for myself, i've heard they are a massive band with a huge following- can't be all that bad then, ty surge.;)
listen up peoples, this should be definitely in your record collection, "soul mining" by The The. this band is one of the best brit bands ever, i don't know how they did in america, but they did ok over here. don't let that put you off because these guys are absolutely bleeding marvellous! got this album on as i type, and washed down with a stiff vodka this album does it. also try "infected", but this is the best The The album in my books, track 7 especially- wicked!!!

elton john is so stupid i like the names of his songs though cause they ae retarded and funny
come on disturbed, e.j's songs are stupid???a few lines from 1 song- " a couple of the sounds that i really like, are the sound of a switchblade and a motorbike, i'm a juvenile product of the working class, who's best friend floats in the bottom of a glass" put those lyrics with the music to saturday nights all right for fighting and you got yourself a track guaranteed to get the blood flowing- elton rocks!!!
here's one to slow things right down "night nurse" by gregory isaacs. get some rum into your belly and light up a fat one, this album is the nuts, reggae's not really my bag but this album is a secret weapon for getting to home base with any lady!!! smooth flowing vibes and big greg's voice is jamaica mon thru and thru. if you've been a bad boy and trying to get back into your honey's good books, get the alcohol flowing, light up some candles, turn the lights off and get track 3 onwards playing and get some serious smooching going on, if that doesn't work- dump her, she's probably a corpse dead from the neck up- this album is tip top
;)
hey there passion, u made it babes, listen princess, come round my house and i'll show you how to make the most of music, its all in the hips and the rythym, get a hold of u soon pash!!

"led zeppelin 4" say no more, enough said already......what can you say about this album that hasn't already been said. i've read a few times off various respected music critics that this is possibly the most perfectly arranged album u could get, and after a few listens u have to agree with them. from black dog to stairway, a rock music fans holy grail!!!

nice one rating failure, thanks for thumbs up bud, when u get time give us some of your favourite albums, and as for you disturbed, put down some of your favourite albums bud, its all about trying out new forms of music, if you guys dont tell the rest of us whats good out there we'll never have the chance to listen to the likes of "the disturbed" or "gobsmacked", keep those posts coming in folks, its all about expression.......
tonight folks its time for a change, a film for you guys to see, take my word for it- this film will have you in tears!!! if ever you get the chance, try to watch "johnny dangerously". michael keaton is the doggies dickie as the hero, this film is just one big pisstake from the start to the end, honestly, its the nuts. you'll have to watch it over and over because there is a gag or a skit every 30 seconds in this film. too many funny bits too mention, but even those folks with a limited sense of humour will be chortling at some of jokes and visual gags, get your vcr fired up and be prepared for sore sides from the all the laughing you'll be doing.
back to music peeps, "bedtime stories" madonna. yeah yeah yeah, u either love her or hate her, but nobody can deny she is talented and knows how to rock. of all her albums, this is probably my favourite. super lyrics, cool music and some wicked basslines- check out "i'd rather be your lover", "survival" and "sanctuary", "human nature" also has a funky hip-hop sort of beat going down, ah forget it, get the album and enjoy it all. madge, i thinks your majestic babes!!!
right then kiddies, tonight's treat for you is a super bonus, because the lead singer of this band is just at home talking to humans as she is squeeking and squawking away to your fax machine!! of course, it could only be the one and only bjork, she's got a silly name, comes from a cold place in the middle of the atlantic and has the strangest singing voice you've ever heard, apart from that peewee herman geezer. if any of you folks remember a little band called the sugarcubes, i hope some of you can as they were the finest example of an indie band you could get in the late 80's and early 90's. the album, which is a must listen is " it's it". a very cool album indeed with some nice little touches , new and old songs remixed with a club feel to them. it's a sort of ketamine meets ecstasy turn around, from the rough and raw sound of old sugarcubes to the beaty lovey feel of bjork today. give this album a whirl and enjoy bjorks warblings to the big beat production, especially on birthday and blue eyed pill, good album!!

Well Che.... .looks like only you and me posting here.........lol
Here's another one to go check out..........One by One is the Foo fighters new piece of rock heaven.
Crisp and clean, hard edged but soft, delicate but frantic, the album is twisted and laced with melodies that would put a baby to sleep and wake the neighbours at the same time !!!
The album is fuelled by fuzzy guitar riffs and lines that would slice through steel.
The lead single from the album " All my Life", is rock in true Foo style, gut wrenching vocals and strong, raw guitar sounds.
Other stand out tracks are......." Times like these", "Tired", "Lonely as You", "Burn Away" and "Come Back".
nice review crib sis, i've been listening to pinks new album "misunderstood" over the last couple of days and its coooool. i've been trying to get some of the beats down on the old drum kit, but boy oh boy, i need an extra foot, the bass lines just keep on changing!!! got all the latest songs on it, not sure of titles at the mo i just know the tunes...and its a nice album. she can sure sing, got good engineering and pinks worth a squirt or 2 as well lol. by the way pash, u noticed this is one of the only threads where there is no ball licking or cocksucking going down trying to get into the managements goodbooks- keep it real folks, drop the bull**** and have fun. i'll post later about which are the best tracks on this album.

Here's one for you Che........a Brit band...The Music, album is self titled.
They have supported Oasis and Charlatans. You will know this Leeds band as few bands can recreate those bluesy, boozy riffs of Led Zep, drop-in Ozzy Osbourne-like vocals and hammer them to dance beats. There's a touch of the verve to the Music, listen to the glittery "Human", but for the most part the album is a mix of slow.brooding boilers, driving riff-laden rockers, an orgy of disrorted guitars and the sneering vocals of Robert Harvey.
The Music's skill it to inject more adrenaline and pace than the drugged-up godfathers of heavy metal could sustain.

and so on with the albums folks...tonight's little gem has got to be the one, the only, mr. michael jackson with his truly awesome "off the wall" album. this was his first album as a solo singer and wanted it to be hot, so after teaming up with the equally talented quincy jones the final album did not fail to deliver!!! turn the volume up and strap your speakers down because when the violins kick in on "don't stop 'til you get enough" you know your in for a good ride, right up until the final fade out of the last track "burn this disco out". all nice songs, perfectly sung by jacko, perfectly arranged by quincy and perfectly deliverd to your ears by a loud set of speakers.... wacko he may be, but this album is the biz, dont stop always makes me grin- guaranteed. girlfriend, i'm gonna tell your boyfriend, yeah...............
oh yeah, get ready for jackos new release soon, its gonna be hot!!! side a- don't let your son go down on me, b side- i'm forever blowing bubbles lol;)
301 views to this thread!!! i never thought it would of done so well, cheers for reading folks.
nice 1 jazz, here'a a couple of good songs for u to download.....tonights little snippet of musical heaven has got to be "the very best of the chi-lites" from the chi-lites (obviously!!) i don't know if any of u peeps have ever heard of this band, but they have had a lot of big records out and some storming classics released- have you seen her, homely girl, too good to be forgotten are among the well known songs but the real beauty's are this lot, there will never be any peace, i like your loving, we need order and give more power to the people. in fact, they're all good rercords, easy listening and guaranteed to make you smile, funny lyrics and good vocals. a superb blast from the past, get out your "shaft" fancy dress outfit and put on your afro wig, this album is cooool, time for a little singsong me thinks- " i like your loving, do you like mine, mmmmm mmmm mmmmm........"
by the way, any of you folks interested in checking out roy ayers, a particularly fine album is "shining symbol" it has all his classics on!!! top top tunes
right u lucky kids, i got a double bubble beauty for you tonight, well, one's an album and the others a song, but what the heck- here goes! now listen up real good folks, this is probably the most beautiful piece of modern music you could ever listen to, short and so sweet you'll be playing replay over and over again. this is a MUST download for anybody with an iq over 50 and an ear for music. the artist- van "the man" morrison, song- " CONEY ISLAND" where do i start?? the beginnings good i suppose. from the outset this record will have the hairs on the back of your neck standing up and like a 15 year olds pecker. the song itself describes a day journey around strangford lough in northern ireland, and having spent many a month drinking and shagging my way round ulster this piece of music really does the journey described justice- from the craggiest most windswept coastline you have ever seen to the most beautiful and tranquil rolling green hills you could ever imagine, and the people, full of fun and always good craic. i have made this pilgrimage several times while escorting some of ulsters finest ladies on the journey, and this tune playing away on the car stereo as you drive round the route guarantees a result!!! PLEASE DOWNLOAD THIS TRACK AND GIVE ME YOUR VIEWS- as this is definitely in my three top tunes ever- ty

cool smev, glad to see you take my remarks as they are meant- just fun. i'm a grizzly arsed lovable smutty bastard by nature and if ever i say anything out of order i'm the first to apologise, just take my remarks as they are meant please folks, they're all written with the best of intentions!!! now back to music, i have a beauty for you guys but you'll have to wait until i'm on my lunch break- it's a hot hot tip, believe me!
boom boom boom, let me hear you say wayohhh, WAYOHHHH
don't panic, its a good song for putting your hands in the air and bopping about the place like a lunatic, but no way near worthy enough for this thread....but here is a song and album which certainly are. once again, a double whammy on the tip front, limp, u got to start paying me double bro!! this is yet another album from one of the finest british bands ever- The The, album-"infected" . the guy behind the band- matt johnson has one of the snarliest voices going and the ability to put a group of musicians together to belt out a tune like no one else can- if you like real acoustics to your music this band is a must check out. all matts songs have meaning and a point, not just some old twaddle written by some hit maker for any prefabricated band- The The kicks butt! just for an example here are the lyrics to one of my favourite songs off this album and any The The afficionado will be able to sing along and know the pleasure listening to this track on a loud system can bring!!!
out of the blue (into the fire)
i'm a man without a soul, honey
well i lost it while parading it, in a town full of thieves
y'see i didn't wanna be with any people i know
but god knows i didn't wanna be alone...
so i showered down, left my little room
and jumped in my car, for protection from hostility
well it ain't easy to be bold in an unkown city
i was feeling strong mouthed, but weak willed
when i ran into a cure, for my ills....
don't tell me what your name is
i want your body not your mind
i want a feeling worth paying for
before i say goodbye
but as i was talking, i couldn't look her in the eyes
i just kept wondering
how many men released their frustration between her thighs...
well my adrenalin was curdling like cream
as i was being led by the hand
through the sound of sirens
and the distant noise of some drunken jazz band
through the stench of disinfectant
that infected my head
through the darkness of a corridor and into a strangers bed....
well i didn't wanna hurt your feelings honey
but i couldn't suppress my own
i had to pull myself out of this nosedive
by proving something to myself....
(massive drum roll and wicked build up of music)
she was lying on her back with her lips parted
squeeling like a stuffed pig
i was going through the motions, faking the emotions
and wriggling around like a lizard in a tin
trying so hard to cleanse myself
i was turning into somebody else
trying so hard to please myself
i was turning into somebody else
i was trying so hard to be myself
i was turning into somebody else
( music fades and a ladies voice kicks in (tessa niles), now seriously fellas, listen to this song, tess has THE sexiest voice you ever did hear!!!!)
come my love, with your desire
out of the blue, and into the fire..............
fade out, but believe me, if you actually download this record or obtain it from wherever, i bet you will know the words within 2 hours because it will be on constant replay- this record rocks- the whole album does. any of you folks who think brit rock is all oasis and coldplay, think again, when matt gets this group together no one can match them- brilliant music, all real instruments and real feeling- do yourselve's a favour, download now
getting back to karma and tantric meditation, i've just come back from Stings house (of the police for anyone young enough not to know who sting is, and the police were a massive group of the 80's for the real youngsters out there). i've just be giving him and his wife my best tantric sex techniques- happy shagging mr. and mrs.sting- don't forget to keep your fluid levels up!!! lol laters....che

Time to get back to what this thread is all about...Music Music !!!
Forever Delayed by Manic Street Preachers.
This band is bigger than Ben Hur in their native Wales, they play a brand of highly politcised firebrand rock.
Ignore this album at your peril though. Here is 78 mins of thought-provoking, riff-rich, and, at time, unsettling power rock.
From " A Design for Life" to the bittersweet " Kevin Carter", the Manics know how to push those intellectual buttons.
This is also a great rock n' roll set with the searing vocals of James Dean Bradfield leading the way.
Give it a listen.........let's know what u think
hey pash, what frequency you on there princess???? guess what i'm listening to right now.....manics- tell me your truth!!! thats kinda freaky, but you are right thru and thru, manics rock BIG TIME, we'll discuss more later. pash- can u believe it? vodkas kicking in just nice to- go manics....

If your into pop-edged punk rock this ones for you !!!!!!!!
Pulsate to the Back Beat by Mach Pelicans.
The started out just being a cover band of Ramones, but by drawing from a wider range of punk rock and bubblegum pop influences Mach Pelican has developed a stong sound of its own.
"Pulsate to the Back Beat" is a quality feel-good pop recording set to a rocking good beat. Every energetic track is a potential hit.
From the low key sing-a-long "Airport" to the kicking summer anthem "Malibu Beach", this album features first-rate, pop-song writing and enough sonic variety to earn Mach Pelican the wide-spread following they so rightly deserve
whew, just got back from winona's, bumped into claudia schiffer to out there- CRAZY night!!!! what's up kenny?? and nice post pash- got 1 coming, no 2 in fact i know your gonna love- see y'all later guys- keep listening...
wow, made it back in one piece-just!!! after the crazy weekend with winona and claudia, i was sitting quietly on my way home in concorde when my old jamming buddy alice cooper sat next to me. after ploughung through a few bottles of don peri and deep in conversation about the pro's and con's of a truly anarchic state and utopian idealogies who should start whistling away behind us but my old cribbage partner nelson mandella- and what was he whistling? i hear you ask. now i've mentioned this song before in another thread, of course- the one and only " 2 little boys " by mr r.harris the goateed love god from down under ( he's from south wales to be exact but most folks know of him being an aussie so i'll keep it simple). now this song is a must, and should be compulsory taught at all primary schools, it's a tale of what being a friend is all about, courage, bravery and selflesness in the face of danger! just check out the lyrics and see for yourself:
2 little boys had 2 little toys
each had a woden horse
gaily they played, each summer's day
warriors both of course
1 little chap then had a mishap
broke off his horses head
wept for his toy, then cried with joy
as his young playmate said....
did you think i would leave you crying
when there's room on my horse for 2
climb up here jack and don't be crying, i can go just as fast with 2
when we grow up we'll both be soldiers
and our horses will not be toys
and i wonder if we'll remember
when we were 2 little boys
long years passed, war came so fast
bravely they marched away
cannon roared loud and in the mad crowd
wounded the dieing lay
up goes the shout, a horse dashes out
out from the ranks so blue
gallops away, to where joe lay
then came a voice he knew.....
did you think i would leave you dieing
when there's room on my horse for 2
climb up here joe, we'll soon be flying
i can go just as fast with 2
did you say joe, i'm all a tremble
perhaps its the battle's noise
but i think it's that i remember
when we were 2 little boys
do you think i i would leave you dieing
there's room on my horse for 2
climb up here joe, we'll soon be flying
back to the ranks so blue
can you feel joe i'm all a tremble
perhaps it's the battle's noise
but i think it's that i remember
when we were 2 little boys.
now if you don't know the tune to this classic song, find it, listen to it and absorb the feeling of this truly great song. it is a must drinking song and one which gets everybody smiling and singing their hearts out. this little number takes me back to when i was knee high to a grasshopper, on a sunday afternoon in cardiff. my bamps ( grandad ) would be over "the hope" pub, playing cards with his buddies having a couple of pints before lunch- there would be marlon brando ( very good dominoe palyer, not too hot at crib tho!), john wayne ( forte- darts ), "luvvy" dicky attenborough ( if you thought he was a snake in brighton rock, you should of seen him play cribbage and brag! ) and of course richard burton ( good allrounder and you should of heard sing this song- he loved it ).
then after all the frivolities it was back to our house where my nan and liz taylor had rustled up a lovely sunday roast and a top notch bread and butter pudding- liz's speciality!! very happy days indeed- give your kids a treat, get hold of this song for them and yourselves, it's a BEAUTY!!!!

here we go kiddies with yet another superb album, " sacred heart " by shakespears sister. anyone who says that girl bands suck and are put together solely on a looks basis are talking out of their holes, and i don't mean mouth holes either! this is an excellent album by 3 of the hottest chicks in music from the 80's & 90's. song's worthy of a special mention are: heroine, run silent run deep, sacred heart, you're history and the excellent cover version of big bob marleys could you be loved. marvellous tracks, good allround album 3 hot chicks all worth a squirt to. good music, superb voices and nice production- what more could you ask for- enjoy!!!!
ok folks, get ready to brace yourselves, this next album is one of the best top tips you could possibly have, just check out any album from this series and you are guaranteed a chilled out trip of musical pleasure and delight whatever your taste in music may be. impossible you say, no way, have faith and belive kids- this album rocks, in fact they all do. " back to mine " by groove armada, in fact there are 11 albums in all, all by various bands and dj's, orbital, everything but the girl, morcheeba, new order and faithless are just some of the music mega stars who have compiled albums in this series. what's the idea behind the album?? simple- you've been out all night raving your box off and its time to go home and continue the party in more ambient surroundings and tunes playing to bring the heartrate down and the brain function up, what do you listen to? these albums are compilations of tracks by folks who know whats what when it comes to music!!
now groove armada's contribution to this series is a beauty, from track 1- "description of a fool" by the mighty tribe called quest which is faded into the equally superb "playing your game baby" by barry white then mixed into the next track effortlessly all the way through the album to the last track "pharaohs" by tears for fears, so as you can see all musical styles included and mixed up to perfection by the various genii behind each album. i'm not going to list any tracks of this album as they are all grade 1superAA, ie-the bollocks!
trust me on this one, get it, it's hot hot hot............buy it, slap it into your cd, press play and unwind or rev up, this album never fails to deliver-enjoy........
good evening my friends, tonight i have a special treat for you music freaks!!! this young lady seems to be on everybody's playlist at the mo and even the high lord of ratman himself seems to be listening to this up and coming megastar. album " come away with me " artist- norah jones. what more can i say apart from probably THE best debut album your ever likely to hear. this girl is class, piano and vocals, she's got it all! you've got to love her style to- southern soul, country and a bit of jazz thrown in for good measure. the album is perfect easy listening, just the sort of tunes you want playing while entertaining friends over dinner or just chilling out and putting your feet up. best track by a long shot is the superb cover of hank william's cold cold heart. another track which i'm really feeling is "i've got to see you again" which combines some nice violin, slide guitar and sitar riffs in the track.
excellent album, this girl is going to be huge, not surprising that she's a musical genius, seeing as her father is ravi shankar, who funnily enough used to play crib with myself and george harrison many moons ago when he introduced the awesome sound and beauty of the sitar to 1 of the best crib and shove ha'penny players from the beatles... get this album and chill to norahs lovely voice, keep it coming honey it's all good

Here we Go....Here we go.....Here we go !!!!!!
Untouchables by Korn
* Hard 'n' Heavy
This is Korn at their heaviest since the band's sophomore release" Life Is Peachy", and a lot more mature. This is a band whose hard work has again paid off. The band who started a mass movement, continue to evolve on their latest studio recording. The album's first single "Here To Stay" is just what fans were demanding - heavy as hell, and melodic as any song you'll find in the top 10. With pulsating basslines, razor-sharp lyrics and overwhelming energy, Korn are back at the top of their game.
There we go.....There we go...There we go !!!!!!
right then folks, last post from me for a while, and when i give you the album and the song to listen to it will tie everything up nicely..... album " the other woman " by " miss jones ", no, not norah again but miss jones, thats her name!! lovely mellow album which chicks love, all about women and all that jazz, you know- unfaithful guys, heartbreak, etc etc....some lovely tracks on here with 3 more upbeat numbers which will have you grabbing your honey and giving her a spin round the lounge faster than you can say " mmm just nibble it there babes " i can't remember the titles but they work big time, and listen out for the last track- "2 way street part 2", it is the nuts!! miss jones, who is absolutely wanktastic- she gives me the horn big time- AROOOOOOOGAAAAAA, and big punisher, with his gruff voice and wicked flow combine perfectly, it's a good track with excellent lyrics especially when miss j give big pun a mouthful- wicked wicked top tune!!!!!!
now pay attention to the title of this track- 2 way street, basically i've had enough of posting my tits off on here with very limited response, my word to other folks word ratio is just a little out of balance- to all those who did contribute- thank you, esp pash. if i see more posts coming in the reviews may start up again...peace all- che out ;)

Bold, brassy, shameless. NUDE,......yes, ladies and gentlemen, the madman from Stoke-on-Trent is back to entertain you.
"Escapology" by Robbie Williams
This time the ever unpredictable Robbie Williams has served up an album with a rockier edge and a big dose of USA flavourings.
There is some nice-and-nastier guitar work and an overall raw honesty to the tunes. Robbie has honed his vocals. best demonstrated with some timely, gravelly rock groans as well as the occasional deft touches of falsetto.
Pop gems that should fare well, "Feel", his first single, and the incredible catchy "Sexed Up", while epic ballandry comes with brooding strings and choir-like back-ups in " Love Somebody" and a gorgeous homily to his grandmother in "Nan's Song", then there is the breath-taking soul-driven duet "Revolution", the cheeky "Handsome Man", and the silly-but-fun "Me and My Monkey".
And what's the nude thing all about I hear you ask?
Robbie recorded most of Escapology in the raw.
Don't go changing Robbie !!! We Wubs Ya !!!

hey kane my man, if you like the sound of sgt.pepper's then you must check out rubber soul, good beatles album and lots of sitar influence from top cribster george harrison ( see norah jones review above!!!). you can really hear the ravi shankar/indian influence coming through on ths album- norwegian wood is the must listen to trackon this album, i once had a girl..or should i say...she once had me-superb!!!
and pash, have you listenened to "swing when your winning"? if not, get ahold of it princess, robbie meets big band swing and the combination is da bomb, kaboom-this album is the nuts, if only for robbie's cover of the nitty gritty dirt band's classic "mr.bojangles". what a record-listen, absorb and i guarantee you will be whistling the little whistling passage while smiling like a cheshire cat all day. this record is a must- enjoy...

Just love the "Better Man"
Ahhhhhhhh Robbie has it !!!!
oh boy oh boy oh boy, sheeeeshhhhh, have i got a quick snippet for u folks in limpkland, the last post for a while from me as i'm away for a week or 2 so i thought i'd better make it a good 1. take it from me, it doesn't get any better than this!!!! "forever delayed" by the manic street preachers. this album is so bleeding hot it's nuclear....get your heads round this for a concept- all the best songs from all the albums made by THE best band from south wales ever, closely followed by cardiff's own king of rock and roll shaking stevens of course. all the great tracks are on here, in fact i'll give you the track list it's so good:
1 a design for life
2 motorcycle madness
3 if you tolerate this your children will be next
4 la tristesse durera
5 there by the grace of god
6 you love us
7 australia
8 you stole the sun from my heart
9 kevin carter
10 tsunami
11 the masses against the classes
12 from despair to where
13 door to the river
14 everything must go
15 faster
16 little baby nothing
17 suicide is painless
18 so why so sad
19 the everlasting
20 motown junk
so as any manic fan can see, it doesn't get any better than this!!! and as a super bonus, if you get the special edition album you also get a remix cd with these truly great tracks all mixed up and guaranteed to get your senses in a spin. buy this album now you will not be disappointed- absolute manic magic!!!!!!!!! che out for a while but don't let that stop you folks from reading and posting your musical selections here, cy'all soon, easy now folks and enjoy.......
oooopsss, didn't notice that pash has already reviewed this album- sorry folks....did you get the remix cd with it pash? if not give me a bell and i'll get a copy out to you. so you see kids, 2 folks drooling over the same album can only mean it is the business!!!!!
jeeeezus folks, whats a guy got to do to make you folks post here? here i am pulling some 3rd world country back from the brink of disaster and even i find time to pinch my old mate kofi annan's laptop from him and give you another album review...what album could be worthy of such action? obviously it has to be a good album and this is better than that, its a GREAT album..."rumours" by fleetwood mac. so, it's 20 years old but who gives a fig! this album is a corker, full of cracking songs, superb music and the fantastic vocals from stevie nicks and christine mcvie. this album is full of angst and you can relly feel the vibe coming through the subtle undertones of the music in the album, after all these were probably the biggest cokeheads in the music game at the time and you can feel the struggle of their various relationships coming through and making what is definitely a very good album. all good tracks, especially the chain, you make loving fun, second hand news, dreams and don't stop, if the song themselves don't do it for you the skill of the band as musicians will- from one of the most talented group of muso's comes one of the greatest albums ever- big up and respect the macs...now back to saving that lil ol' country...laters

Been awhile since I did a review....not sure if anyone reads mine..... Che is the the legend of this thread !!!!
...........Lovebox by Groove Armada ................
All you need to know is here on this albums opening track "Purple Haze". It starts with bluesy hip-hop before a rather loud and grinding funky guitar kicks in. There's a rap about Jack Daniels and the sort of mushrooms you won't find in a supermarket.
Things have changed with Groove Armada. as "Lovebox" sees them not so much flirt with rock, but fully comsumate the relationship.
But they haven't lost there way. "Madder" implements a menacing bassline amd live drums to drag you towards a serously rocking chorus.
"Hands of time", sung by soul man Ritchie Havens, sounds like an escapee from an old blues album, with the modern touch, "Tuning In" reheats the psychedelic '60s.
If you want your Groove Armada albums to soothe you, the moment suitable for the wee hours -- like the mellow gold of "Remember" -- are in the minority.
And the party vibe isn't lost forever, see the rollicking "Final Shakedown". while "Easy" is a dance floor hit in the making, reliving the classic house era of the early '90s with style.
hey pash, i'm sensing a little sensitivity coming through in your post there honey, belive me when i say everybody who reads this thread reads and appreciates your input- very well informed, no waffle and you get to the heart of the subject, that's what it's all about babes. other folks should learn from your example, come on peeps, how about some other folks taking a leaf out of pash's book and giving us a review on your top tips, from easy listening to epmd from megadeath to mantronik, get posting!!!

Not feeling any better...... but I'm trying ( damn I need a hug) !!!
Here's another review to read ( or ignore)
--- "10 by LL Cool J" ---
LL Cool J is a survivor -- a 10th album is unprecedented in hip-hop.
Here he returns to his loverman persona, drawing inspiration from his domestic bliss album that will appeal more to hip-hop mums and dads than their kids.
LL has roped in the Trackmasters and the Neptunes for the beats -- with the latter providing the most out-there tracks, among them the spacey "Luv U Better".
And LL dedicates "Big Mama" to his granny, who inspired his famous title "Mama said Knock You Out"
In a word this album is sincere.
5 more to go and then the posting will stop............sigh

Oh Well here i go again !!!!!!!!!!!!
Todays gem is .........."More Than you Think You Are " by "Matchbox Twenty".
Mainstream rock records don't get any better than this !!!
"More "...rocks stadiums,
"Feel" ... recalls rock radio's golden age
"All I Need" ... demands a sing-along
"Disease"(sexy single)... makes you feel
Rob Thomas's writing throws up more memorable choruses than an Abba best-of, while avoiding the bloated, string-laden trap the last album Mad Season suggested he might fall into.
Instead, "More" is the sound of MB20 managing -- unlike so many of their peers -- to remain vital.
Well Worth a Listen !!!!

As one of punks rock's leading exponents, Tim Armstrong has a reputation to live up to following his work in Rancid and Operation Ivy.
In the Transplants, Tim teams up with hard-core vocalist Rob Aston, Blink182's Travis Barker and a some great guests including, Davey Havok, Lars Frederiksen and the Slackers Victor Ruggiero.
The album Transplant will not disappoint, with an infectious blend of punk, Billy Bragg-style pop and roots reggae goes a step forward with industrial drum loops and dub-style samples.
These techniques are not new to punk but gives this album an impressive sonic density and progressive feel.
From the head-nodding bone-crushers such as "One Seventeen" to the folksy roots of "California Babylon".
Worthwhile to have a listen too !!!
Oh btw Che.....cricket score.....aussies declared at 9 for 552..go aussies !!!!

Here's on to finish your weekend off with !!!
"Stripped" by Christina Aguilera.
As with many artists, including Britney Spears and Leann Rimes, Christina is flashing a little to much skin these days in an effort to give the teeny-bopper image the flick ( I can hear Che yelling NOT ENUFF SKIN ).
Bar the first oversexed single 'Dirrty", Aguilera's second mainstream album is an introspective gem.
Christina bares her emotions on this mostly self-penned album.
The album contains sensual ballards such as "Loving Me 4 Me" and "Beautiful", while the Latino background is reflected on tracks such as "Infatuations" and "Make Over".
Christina teams again with Lil'Kim on "Can't hold us Down".
Have a listen you may be suprised !!!!!!!!!!!!!
YippyYaiYayyyyyyyyyyyy.......got to post number 69......break out the champagne....or the rum....or the vodka.....or the bourbon.........."Let's Party"
congratulations princess on your 69th post, my favourite number if you hadn't already guessed..nice reviews again pash, the punk things all good, as i've got the blueprint to all punk albums coming up soon " never mind the bollocks, here's the sex pistols ", boy did those lads know how to party!!!! and as to those ladies showing too much skin, britney can put it all away as she ain't my cuppa tea, and christina and leann are only flashing bits i've seen before...good album coming up next folks so be prepared....
here goes kiddies, now prepare yourselves for this little gem because this album will put your smoke out and knock your pan in, or to put it another way will blow your bleeding socks off!!! this album takes me back to when i was doing a little cruise around various oceans with my old cribbage partner and bar billiards buddy charlie "boy" darwin. there we were, pitched up camp on some little islands miles from anywhere, the gallapolees islands or something like that anyway, merrily passing the time away playing with the turtles and lizards when he came up with an idea for a crazy book, "the origin of the species". now its a pretty long winded affair, slow paced, not much of a story and very little lady action if you know what i mean, but charlie boy was happy enough with it, to cut a long story short it's all about evolution, which leads on to my next choice album for you folks...
what do you get if one of the best bands to come out of manchester in decades, led by the genius mr. shaun ryder evolves?? of course you get black grape...if music bands were pokemon, the next evolution of the fab group the happy mondays, ie.black grape, would knock the living daylights out of that pikachu character and all his buddies put together!!!! and if you don't believe me listen to this album, " it's great when you're straight...yeah "
from the start of track 1- reverand black grape, with its funky way down south beat and harmonica riffs you know you're in for a treat...and the album keeps going and going with no hint of easing up on your senses, especially kelly's heroes- an absolute barnstormer of a track even if i do say so myself (back me up here pash!!). just looking at the song titles is enough top put a smile on your face, and the listening will keep you bopping forever, eg.tramazi party, shake well before opening and shake your money.....an excellent album and a must for any decent cd collection. shaun, bez and all...more please....enjoy folks, its a corker!!!

Backing up to ya all the way Che..........( that's what ya meant isn't hun ???)
Great review..............Top notch album and band...........
Keep Em coming !!!!
first off folks, this one's going out to the folks in yahooland who have been reading the reviews on here- big up yo'selves and respect, thanks for the comments, as i've had a few peeps come and comment on them while i've been playing my beloved cribbage, you know who you are!!!....if i know you folks are reading it pash and myself (and anyone else who would like to contribute!!!) will keep on posting it, keep feeling the funk folks, enjoy....
brace yourselves kids, this is a strange post tonight which covers a whole group of albums from various bands and performers, and is posted as a mark of respect to one of my personal musical heroes.....
who likes their funk???? i do i do i do......from g-funk to p-funk, this guy had it down. roger troutman, a giant in the world of funk, definitely in the same league as george clinton and james brown. he was one of the biggest talents in the music world to have come from america in years, not only a respected keyboard player, a gifted bass guitar player and a top notch lead guitar player he could also sing!! he was the man who re-launched the sound of the voice-box, after many artistes including the likes of stevie wonder had tried to use it and artistes today including teddy riley with guy and blackstreet, but to no where near the effect which roger managed. from a musical family of unbelievable abilities they formed the group zapp who gave us 4 albums and various compilations, roger also made a few by himself and some with other members of his family under the name "roger and the human body". the zapp albums are really special and all of them had at leat one instrumental or jazz cut on it which would show off how good these folks really were.
favourite tracks of mine include: i want to be your man- a secret weapon in my musical collection when it came to getting it on with chicks in my teenage years- ladies love this track!!, computer love- another ladies favourite, atomic dog and more bounce- both records will appear in any self respecting funk dj's collection ( along with roy ayers- running away )
there are a lot of albums out there, especially compilations and greatest hits, the best one of which i've seen is " we can make you dance " which features tracks from all rogers groups..i've even seen a tribute album from some of the biggest west side rap and swingbeat stars of today...on which chico debarge does a cover of i want to be your man, which i'm dieing to get my hands on and shows you the respect folks show to this guy and family.
without the troutman's the whole funk scene would never of evolved into the new jack swing beat sound which makes millions of dollars each year and brings opportunity to all sorts of people from all walks of life from all over the world.
R.I.P. roger troutman, us funksters and the whole music family miss you bro, peace out.....listen, dance and ENJOY
final post for today- just listened to krs1's "sound of the police" on the radio and it is SMOKING- watch out for it u b-boys and gals, his new album is gonna be SERIOUS......

"Shut Up" by Kelly Osbourne
Forget Avril, Kelly is the real deal and has the gene pool to prove it !!!
"Shut Up" quite simply, rocks in a raw punk manner Avril and her string-pullers could only dream of !!!!!!!!!!!!
hey, avril or kelly are welcome to pull my string any time, sepratately or together- the choice is yours girls....
now this album is a real treat tonight!!!! when i get the urge to get my hubbly bubbly out or give my favourite old bong a blast with some of my latest homegrown and turn myself into the ultimate couch potato- red eye's and all, there is truly nothing better than sitting down with a sweet cup of tea big enough to bath in, eating a packet of rich tea biscuits and watching "the jungle book" on the video. yes, i do mean the disney cartoon! then, after resting for half an hour to let your sides recover from laughing so much it's time to get really spatial, load up your cone til it's overflowing, light up the cherry and kaboom........headf**k
now, crawl over to the stereo and bang on this little beauty to chill out to...." the war of the worlds " by jeff wayne. this is 1 of the best albums in the whole world ever. from the onset with the dark ominous sounds coming from your speakers, then being hit with big richard burton's booming voice you just know its gonna be an album worth listening to again and again and 1 you'll never tire of. just check out this cast: richard burton, phil lynott, gypsey king david essex, julie covington....the list go's on and on.
everyone who has this album has their favourite bits, whether it's "the chances of anything...", " and the martian spoke...uuuuulllaaahhhhhh...." or any number of little passages throughout the whole album, you will have to make your own mind up to your fave bit, but for me it's the david essex passages that make me smile. honestly kids, listen to this album, it saves you the time from reading the j.vernes classic and more entertaining than any film could ever be...listen, appreciate and enjoy....
here's a quick 1 for you peeps but with a difference!!! this album is lame, "no more drama" by the high priestess of r&b mary j. blige....i'm sorry mary but this album sucks, i bought it for family affair and was expecting to have a few other tracks to make the buy worthwhile, unfortunately in my ears it fails to deliver. family affair is superb and still remains in my top 20 tracks.......has anyone got a 3 hour remix of this track out there?? if so please let me have it as this track really is that good
toights album of choice is a beauty, "metallica- the black album" by metallica....cool cool cool album, if you like your guitars and drums heavy but still well played this is the album for you, from track 1:enter sandman through to the end, the newsted/ulrich/hammett/hetfield combo bang out some killer tracks....good heavy rock with a killer flair for originality and music.
top song has got to be "sad but true" which is an all time classic...dumm dumm dumm diddle diddle diddle you know it's sad but trueeeee- corkingly good record, they all are on this album!
turn up the volume, bang on this cd and headbang 'til you bleed from the eyeballs....hot album, enjoy.....
quick post for you folks to get your teeth into....THE KING!!! yup, thats right, ELVIS PRESLEY.... now i know everybody has heard of him, most peeps have listened to him and some love him and some hate him, as for myself elvis is the king. you disagree??? check out some of his records before you make your mind up, here's a quick rundown of my personal elvis favourite golden oldies:
in the ghetto
king creole
i just cant help believing
allways on my mind
wonder of you
she's not you...
shoot, the list is endless, not a bad little rundown for starters but there aren't enough hours in the day to put down all his good tracks, time for a song...well i just cant help believing, when she smiles up soft and gentle, with a trace of misty morning, and the promise of tomorrow in her eyes.......... i could go on but i don't want you ladies getting too excited and screaming for me. elvis lives folks, believe ,listen and most of all definitely enjoy.....

The Blueprint 2 (The Gift and the Curse) by Jay-Z
This Brooklyn rapper is very smart at creating commercial hip-hop while keeping his rhymes street. He has cred.
For successful hip-hop artists, the double album is an indulgence, but rarely do they manage a classic set. Jay-Z has managed to come up with the goods with this album.
In "The Blueprint2" Jay-Z has spared no expense in making this a ball-breaking blockbuster, roping in the Neptunes as producers and guests such as Dr Dre, Beyonce Knowles and Lenny Kravitz.
What elevates "Blueprint 2" is its sonic diversity -- Jay raps over everything from underground hip-hop to retro R&B to funky rock.
On "A Dream", Jay reunites with a voice from the grave, his late friend BIG and gets BIG's widow to perform the hook.
"A Ballad for the Fallen Soilder" touches on Sept 11 and and gang fighting.
And listen to Jay's "I Did it My Way"....he has a sense of humour.
This is a stong album.....do yourself a favour and have a listen !!!

Nice to see you post here Tyler...How about an album review..... huh huh huh !!!!!!!!!!!
"Audioslave"by" AudioSlave"
Audioslaves's biggest hurdle isn't living up to the past, but convincing fans that RATM's( Rage Against the Machine), rock shouldn't automatically be followed by Zack de la Rocha's rap.
Give their debut time, and it is clear this band, with Chris Cornell's wail out front, makes new sense.
Hard, Heavy Funky ( All the Good Things), and inventive, -- Tom Morello still has millions of guitar tricks -- "Audioslave" is a fantastic mix of alt-rocks familiar past and one band's enticing future.
"Audioslave" delivers the best all-rock techno song ever in "Hypnotize".

I have had the misfortune to listen to this album......and my advice is..................run..................run hard.............run fast.................don't look back !!!!!.......This is disastrous !!!!
Mr Jones by Tom Jones.
Whoever teamed Tom with the severely overrated Wyclef Jean should be sacked. Rancid single Tom Jones International is typical of the problem here----- terrible lyrics and the TOTAL absence of a tune.
The, errrrrrr, modern remakes of "Black Betty" and "We've Got the Night", are just bloody awful, and no-one needs to hear Tom rapping about "bling Bling" or his plans to "bum rush the show".
Avoid this one like the plague, unless you have a really crappy aunty you have to buy for Christmas !!!!

Hmm I was going through my old files and stuff on my computer and I came through a whole bunch of old songs and bands that I use to listen to a LOT.
Well anyway, I came by the band Lifehouse. Any of you remember that band? It had that played out hit "Hanging By A Moment" that seriously was played like every hour and was on the charts for awhile (i think, or it seemed to me. i pay attention every so often hehe) but anyway, I was listening to a lot of the songs and I remember how I loved each one of them..
I love a lot of the songs, the lyrics are great!!!
My favorite would be "Simon" because the way it's sung and played, it's like sooo beautiful (haha to me) and the guy, Lead singer names Jason I think? has such a deep voice and he sings it so well. Other good songs are Hanging by a Moment, Sick Cycle Carousel (2nd fav), Trying, Breathing, Someone Elses song and others. I really liked this CD, even though it's kinda old... its great hehe ^_^
nice post china, thanks for the input, same to you tyler....anyways peeps, had a crazy night round my house saturday and the result of which leads me to my next album of choice- oldish but still hitting all the right buttons, will explain all later...it's a good 'un

talking of parties....my heads still a little mashed after last night, so no album tonight just a little glimpse of some of the lil beauties i got lined up for you in the week.
picture this- there was i, entertaining the girls from the latest pirelli calender ( nice job ladies!!! ) with my old mates ron jeremy and dirk diggler, when my five-a-side footy team mate "fat boy slim" norm cook makes a surprise appearance at my front door surrounded by all his groupies and roadies. as you can imagine, things were beginning to hot up, especially when norm begged me to do a quick hour set on my technics in the cellar ( its fitted out with decks, music system- sponsored by cerwin vega, dance floor, bar, jacuzzi and a nice chill out area...oh yeah my comp and pool table is also hidden away down there ).
so there we all were, chilling and bopping away when norm decided he was going to do one of his sets- and man it was hot! everyone was feeling good and having a great time, the doves and mitsu's were flowing freely along with the booze, and after 6 hours of non stop beautiful hard heavy house provided by myself and slim it was time to slap on a cd, break out the tinnies, skin up some doobies and all have a game of jenga or do whatever you wanted to do.....now when everybody is on the serious mellow loved up chill out tip, you have got to ensure that the music supplied is absolutely perfect- and some of these albums DO NOT FAIL to deliver the goods, some old some new, but all come with my guarantee of total satisfaction......believe and enjoy, they're all good!!!

hehe whats jenga?
you folks obviously haven't played jenga while surrounded by hot chicks who are all hot and sweaty and getting very close and personal while your trying to keep a steady hand and your head is boxed!!!!! chicks were all semi naked to start- the usual dress code for parties in the cellar....
back to the albums folks...and this is a beauty!!! now this is from one of the finest anglo-american partnerships ever, the ministry of sound club syndicate and new yorks top dance dj tony humphries, and on this album he shows you why he is still regarded as one of the finest dj's ever to have graced a pair technics and a x-fader. "ministry of sound- the sessions volume1" now this album came out in 1993 and i think it was probably the ministry's first album, so it may be hard to get hold of, whereas today they have hundreds out, some good some not so hot- this one is a scorcher......
from track 1 to the end it is a non stop musical journey with all the elements of a good housey dance album thrown in for good measure, from climbing bells which suddenly drop right down the frequency scale and scramble your head easier than a moulinex to nice piano sequences and lovely rolling balearic guitar riffs...the first 2 tracks are classics, all funked up and ming's incredible disco machine, BUT, from track 3 onwards this album goes full steam ahead and propels you forward at warp factor 10!- it really is that good, track 3:lets dance- superb, nice mixing and some wicked bells in the background . track 4:lets dance- yummy, track 3:take a ride- fanbloodytastic, come on baby....., track 6:gabrielle and dreams, this is a nice mix of this old club monster, track 7: take it to the top- cool cool track, track 8: london express- a nice little number to keep your head fried, track 9: black sky by shakespeares sister- booom, now this little number has some seriously dark and deep heavy rolling bass lines!! track 10:the question- another old time classic, track 11: slide on rhythm- one of my faves, ooh baby the lights are bright, and the musics coming through ( mdma all the way ), and the final track, no.12:testament one by chubby chunks, say no more-it's a corker, another beauty with nice rumbling basslines and some nice squeeks and squawks thrown in to keep your senses buzzing.
a right good old blast from the past which still sounds fresh today, well done tony, yet another timeless album gloriously mixed up and guaranteed to get your feet moving and you smiling.....it's a cracker, enjoy.......

Wow Che.....what a great post.....knocked off 2 vodkas reading that !!!! Keep up the great work hun !!!
"Shut Up" by Kelly Osbourne.
It shouldn't work -- girl rushed into studio after reality TV show makes her a star. But it does.
"Disconnected" reveals the template in a heartbeat. paint-peeling power punk/pop ala "Kids In America.
More Strokes the 'Stina, Kelly is the ideal antidote to prissy pop princessess or the corporate teen angst of Avril, creating a new genre -- millionaire garage rock.
This debut is precisely the mainstream-baiting album you'd expect from the spawn of the Prince of Darkness.
From '60's swamp and go-go to the '80's new wave, even the sole ballad neither sucks or blows !!!!
In a word...... #*@!
Don't let the TV show put your off.....give it a listen !!!!
i thought the tv show was the nuts, i only ever saw the first one but that was enough for me......as for ozzie, i have always been and always will be a black sabbbath fan, ironman, n.i.b, paranoid, etc etc etc never fail to ring my bell. basically i'd crawl 100 miles on my hands and knees over broken glass just to stick candles in his or his daughters turds.....ozzie and kelly rocks- i just pray that she don't sell out to the a-holes who seem to run music these days...please mr and miss osbourne-can we have some more???

hands up who knows who the finest r&b/soul are to have ever come from the UK??? a gold star to those who know.....answer-loose ends. now this band have had some of the sweetest tracks out ever to be put down on plastic. the album of choice tonight really is a cult classic and looks good in anybodys album collection, kudos explosion if you have this one at home!!!
"look how long"....this album is really a must check out for anybody who likes a bit of groove in their music, carl macintosh and his group (loose ends) really were the cutting edge when it came to smooth sensual soul back in the 80's, and this album, which was their last offering, took a step to the left, then a step to the right and went forward in a slighty new direction to their other albums ( zagora to be reviewed in this thread to, as that is yet another superb album not to be missed!!!!).
from track 1: don't be a fool you can just feel the quality of this album, it really is top banana- a 24carat TNT diamond encrusted beauty. there is honestly not one single bad track on this album, all superbly performed and produced with a style which still makes your ears perk up and your head take notice of the sounds coming from your speakers....all the best quality's of british soul are on display here in abundance, minor keys, deep bone shaking bass, muted trumpets, little electronic sequences, smooth flowing vibe and cracking vocals which compliment the arrangement to perfection.
quick rundown of tracks as they are all top quality,1 don't be a fool, 2 don't you ever (try to change me),3 love's got me,4 try my love,5 time is ticking,6 look how long,7 cheap talk,8 i don't need to love,9 hold tight,10 love controversy pt.1, 11 symptoms of love....i can not emphasise enough how good this album is, if you don't believe me try it for yourselves...believe and enjoy (you will!!!!)
fave tracks of mine: 1,2,4,6,8,10......especially 8- i dont need to love, 2- don't you ever and 10- love controversy....basically a red hot album!!!!!

"Angels with Dirty Faces" by Sugarbabes
In a perfect world, Atomic Kitten would listen to this album by fellow British girl band Sugarbabes and throw in the towel.
Where Atomic Kitten play it safe, Sugarbabes continue down the edgy pop path hinted at by their debut album "One Touch".
"Freak like Me" is one of the singles of the year, ingeniously marrying Gary Numan's cold electro clash "Are Friends Electric?", with red-hot R&B vocals.
And the follow up "Round Round" is just as good, sounding like nothing else in the charts as it continually changes gears (even a ballad interlude), but still manages to be A-list pop.
"Blue", bitter and twisted (musically and lyrically), which swings from robotic verses to organic choruses with ease.
The title track is a real gem, while on "Virgin Sexy" there's the great line --"if you want me just text me".
"Supernatural" and "Switch" are fired by almost sinister bass and constant electronic squeaks.
Even the actual ballad, "Stronger", doesn't lose the plot, sticking to the same dark path as previous gem "Run for Cover".
And if you want to hear them keep it real, without any production effects, "Breathe Easy", is a stripped back, vocal-driven acoustic lament the type of which would give Jo Lo nightmares.

Hers a quickie for you all !!!!!!!!!!!!
"Shangri-La" by Stevie Nicks
Returning with her strongest album since her 1981 debut Bella Donna, Stevie Nicks is joined by Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Macy Gray and Dixie Chick Natalie Maines here. Titles like "Sorcerer" and "Bombay Sapphires" preserve her mystical persona, and despite their mythical sound, they touch on human and very personal subject matter. She shows great range, from the heartbroken tenderness of "Love Changes" to the aggressive rock of "Fall From Grace".
A great Listen !!!
nice post on the sugarbabes pash, sounds like a mighty fine album, and judging but some of the tracks you've listed from the album, santa may be getting a belated present list off me......
a little pop triv here folks, way back when atomic kitten and sugarbabes started out, neither did anything too spectacular......then kerry from ak got knocked up by brian from westlife so she left, along with her the other girl left and she went to the sugarbabes......as one of the original sugars had just left, the kitten fitted in nicely, when ak enlisted 2 new girls both bands went stratospheric!!!!!! weird or what?? both good bands, kittens for the under 18's and sugarbabes for the over 18's......
moral of the story??? who gives a toss, i'd bang 'em all!!!!!
'sup y'all, tonights installment is a beauty.....in fact it's just in the background now as i sup down a rather large port and brandy- beautiful mmmmmmmmmm....."another level" by blackstreet. yes, my favourite new jack swing dude makes a return, teddy riley is truly a god in the music game, from producing jacko's dangerous album to fronting another fave band of mine-guy. here he is heading blackstreet and what a top job he does of it to!!!
the second album from the blackstreet venture rocks big time, everybody knows the massive "no diggity", but this album has lots of other little swing gems to, hitting all the right spots on all kind of levels- need a nice slow tune to grind up against yopur honey with or a faster more upbeat number to to show off your latest dance move out to, this album has the lot.
fromt the intro onwards it is a lovely album, too many good songs to mention, but here's a few to get you started.....
good lovin', no diggity,i can't get you (out of my mind),the lord is real, never gonna let you go.....the list goes on and on, do yourself a favour and get this album, sweet sweet listen, enjoy.....

Here's a real Gem .......................
"Brainwashed" by George Harrison
Defying the deadly trend in posthumous releases, "Brainwashed" is a gentle gem worthy of the late Beatle.
These are not fleshed-out half-finished or never-started odds and sods Harrison left lying about .
As his life ebbed away last year, he worked hard on a batch of new songs and a handful of others he felt he had not quite done justice.
The result is perhaps his best album since "Dark Horse" almost 30 years ago.
"Any Road", "Run So Far" and "Never Get Over You", are stunning shafts of light on this album.
And he knew when to leave well enough alone, so the beautiful "Marwa Blues" survives as a glorious and simple testement to a lyrical guitartist, who knew that a few spare lines always said more than a week's worth of fretboard fireworks.
He never overstayed his welcome --- not on any Beatles song, and sadly, not on earth.

Still On the Beatle Theme ........................
"Back in the US" by Paul McCartney
I don't think I can give a fair and unbiased review on this album........to say I"m pissed off is an understatement !!!!
As he pulled out of his Melbourne concert last month after tens of thousands of tickets had been sold.......Shame, Shame,Shame !!!
Reason cited - in respect of the Bali Bombing........... what a cop out Mr McCartney, at a time when we needed our spirits lifted, YOU did a bunk and bailed out........Shame,Shame Shame !!!!
So listen if you want - but not this little fluffy duck - you can kiss my Aunt Fanny, your off my Christmas card list Mr McCartney !!!!
Wow...........I feel better getting that off my chest !!!!!!
whoa there baby, full steam ahead and let that rage fly at mr. mccartney.......i see where your coming from tho pash, he should of played the gig and donated the money to the bereaved families...still, he must be a little bit short of cash at the mo!!!!
tonights more of a search for help folks...i saw the film "about a boy" on the weekend, and it is very good and funny, so if you haven't seen it then do so, very good 2 thumbs up film! not only has it got hugh grant doing the toffee nosed brit routine to a tee it has rachel weisz, who must be 1 of the hottest chicks ever....but i need some help here, the soundtrack was by badly drawn boy- i remember radio1 in the uk playing the theme song a lot when it was released and from what i can remember it was superb, so, has anybody listened to the soundtrack album at all and can anybody help with the name of the theme song????
more reviews coming up in the week.....and pash, i'd pay to kiss your sweet aunt fanny....laters all
listen folks, no reviews this week as i'm having a chilled out week off before the mad season truly begins....so i'm having a nice easy drink in the evening, playing some serious cribbage and listening to some excellent music before the run up to crimbo begins in earnest. here's a little sample of bands i'm listening to so you should get some idea of what albums are coming up next....the the, simple minds, frank zappa, cabaret voltaire, beta band, funkadelic, blah blah blah, all good music all top tips, enjoy all..........

"Deep Natural" by Michelle Shocked.
Pigeonholding US singer-songwrtier Michelle Shocked is a bit like trying to catch the wind.
So, no suprises that her latest effort is an electic potpourri of blues, exquiste balladry and proto-punk country ( yup I used the C word).
Shocked has come a long way since her legendary semi-bootleg debut of "The Texas Campfire Tapes", and now she is in control of her own musical destiny the sky is the limit.
There is a strong bluesy almost swamp-rock feel to much of "Deep Natural" with the thunderous "Good News" an absolute killer.
Shocked also tweaks the heartstrings on "Why Do I Get That Feeling" and "That's So Amazing" ( one day this will grace a movie soundtrack).
Don't dismiss this one cos I used the C word.......have a listen !!
Oh ......and Che....you dont have to pay.............wiggle wiggle !!!!

If you like hip-hop...........give this one a whirl !!!
"Under Construction " by Missy'Misdemeanor' Elliott
Missy Elliott is spearheading her own revolution in hip-hop -- a cult of individualism.
With her fourth album she takes it back to the old school, an era when differences in the urban faternity were resolved on wax, not the streets.
Standout cut is "Work It".
Elsewhere Missy reminices with rapper Jay-Z on "Back in the Day", and ropes in TLC to remember friends Aailyah and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez on the heartfelt "Can You Hear Me ?".
A cutting-edge album.............one for the chrissie stocking !!!
i'm just taking this opportunity to say ty to all you folks who read this thread of mine, over 1000 wiews!!!! i'd never of thought it possible...ty to all the folks who contribute.
a nice old album here for you peeps, "screamadelica" by primal scream, an excellent album from a few years ago. works on all levels, ie. head warping chemical sounding tracks to smooth acoustic numbers. all good tracks, especially track 3 "don't fight it, feel it"....don't be put off as they are all superb tracks.....but if you are ever in the market for buying a set of speakers for your stereo then always take along these cd's: screamadelica, above mentioned track- to test the speakers bass abilities, any album by the eagles with "life in the fast lane" for the wicked guitar riffs to test the treble and "the best band you never heard in your life" by frank zappa, just for the genius franks take on music......enjoy all and keep listening
whoaaaa there, nice new layout limpkin peeps but i thought i was having an acid induced flashback when i first logged on.....but less of that and on with the album reviews..
"the ultimate beach party mix" by jdj records...now i covered an album very similar to this way back in the murky past ( page 2 i think of this thread! ). once again dj andy chappell blows the dust of his technics 1200's and puts together an album of such outstanding quality in the track and the mixing department that from track 1 you will feel like somebody's spiked your vodka/redbull with at least 2 grammmes of the finest mdma money can buy..believe me this album whoopum batty big time, it is a killer.
too many tracks to mention here folks but if any of you folks out there are "old skool white gloved whistle blowing vics sniffing ravers" who like a bit of club mixed into their spirit lifting tunage this is a must check out album...
quick rundown on the better known tracks, change by daphne- lovely little number with nice vocals and beat just to get the endorphins flowing, any kind of vision by bit machine- good track, feel the love coming thru now folks, can we live by jestofunk- kaboom, this track is butter, smooth and tasty thru and thru, there will come a day by the absolute- another grade 1 track, devotion by nomad- iiiiiiiiiiii, big up and respect to the british outfit for this little number, good feel good record and a wicked mix of this good track, give me love by alcatraz- sweet ass tune, mahogany roots by hardfloor- if you've never heard this track dig it out it is a classic, a very tasty instrumental track on the "blow your head off" tip ( 1 of the first tracks i learnt to mix up so it will always hold a special place in my heart lol ), so damn tuff by boomerang- cool cool stomping track and finally dynamics by squelch- strange track here folks, it has some nice frequency changes going on and some funky little music and vocal samples going down which will keep you singing this song for weeks after first hearing it.. basically folks a wicked album good for banging on the stereo when you feel like a party, it works.....enjoy!!!
here's a quick one for you folks but with a twist, AVOID THIS ALBUM....the new sophie ellis bextor album, you know her- the little piece of skirt who looks like shes descended from pixies and sang that spiller groovejet track a couple of years back- take me home. if you want to save your money don't waste it on this album, apart from a couple of catchy teeny-bop songs this album is as flat as a pancake, no direction, not particularly well produced and very little evidence of talent from ms.bextor.....basically a bigger rip off than a wax job on your knackers...avoid.
no more album reviews until the new year ( if i survive the oncoming party onslaught ), there are some beauties lined up to so keep reading.....in the words of noddy holder-so here it is merry christmas everybodys having fun, look to the future its only just begun.........
HAPPY CHRISTMAS ALL AND A TRULY SUPERB NEW YEAR

Anyways, Matchbox Twenty has come out with it's latest album, I haven't heard all of it, but I've heard the "Disease" song and I think it's a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y great. Matchbox Twenty has always been one of my favs, and this is a really good song. His other songs were sort of like.. hmmm.. sad lol, like "Bent" I really hated the music video cuz of how it was and most of the other songs were sort of ... like that. But this song is good ^_^
JOHN MAYER- YOUR BODY IS A WONDERLAND. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song. It's great ;)

an excellent love song! i thought it was about a relationship with God but then i saw them in concert and it turned out not to be
it is one of the greatest love songs in my opinion though! i love it
matchbox 20- " i wonder what it's like to be a superhero....blah blah blah......and get this funky high from the yellow sun!!!!" don't know what the song title is but that record makes me smile for all the right reasons, don't know why but it just does.
top tip for u ravers over the holidays- check out the new remix of nerds "lapdancer" by freeform reform, its gonna get those dancefloors heaving- hands in the air now and grind baby yeahhhhh...happy hols folks

12-20-2002, 09:46 PM
is it me or does the video for 'disease' have nothing to do with the song? oh well, still a great band.
Used to call me dummy when my nose was f*cking runny
Now my f*ckin' bunnies gettin' f*ckin' Matchbox 20 money - Devil without a Cause - Kid Rock
speaking of the Kid......hate him or love him, he f*ckin rocks! especially his album of the same name from the above mentioned song. it is a must have for any real music fan.

To be honest i havent seen the music video but i seen a lot of videos that are like that.. some new found glory ones lol it's like wtf? or some other bands.. oh well, i just listen to it, i dont really care about music videos... sort of ruins my image of how the song is played for lol ^_^
i know i said no more posts china, but the utah vs. r1ch battle extraordinaire is just too much to miss, plus i'm in work with a sore head ( alcohol induced so no sympathy required) and what better way to pass time away than posting on my favourite thread????
driving in to work this evening my head was busting, my eyes were like p-holes in the snow and my tongue felt like it had carpet fitted, when all of a sudden a blast from the past came booming out my cars speakers. this was an instant cure, put a smile on my face and soon had me bopping away and singing as i drove merrily on my way down the road......
the song to make such a miracle happen??? "show me love" by robin s-kabooommmmm, what a wicked wicked record. not since candi staton and the source brought out "you got the love" has a track from the house scene smashed through the commercial barrier and held its place with its contempories without losing it's underground house vibe and fresh feel.wicked beat, lovely rolling bass lines and cool vocals (on both records), so big up yo'self robin, and u2 candi, in fact everybody big up yo'selves, happy hols folks......definitely che out now, enjoy!!!!

Black Sabbath "Paranoid"
Enough said, the album speaks for itself
I mean cmon Iron man, Paranoid, Electric Funeral, War Pigs, Fairies Wear Boots, and lets not forget the song that was beautifully covered by Pantera "Planet Caravan".
No other album comes close, but of course thats just my opinion

Here's one to the start the New Year off with............
Breed 77..........self titled album.
This self-titled debut album is set to become the next big thing in the rock 'n' roll-edged metal scene.
Although the band is not taking metal dynamics into any new territory its commitment to hard, pile-driving music is much appreciated.
Breed 77 does not over-rely on samples or drum loops, a trend disturbingly common among contemporary metal acts.
What impresses most about Breed 77 is its excellent and varied vocal delivery. "Floods" features a dark and distrubing vocal style, while "Final Prayer" vocally relies on a mellow and more melodic Eastern influence. On the more powerful "Fly", the band matches heaviness with raw, agressive vocals.
As far a muscial aesthetics are concerened it is difficult to top the staccato guitars of "Karma" and the excellent rhythmic wall of sound of "Breaking The Silence"
An Aggressive debut !!!!
urghhhhhh, sorry folks, no album reviews as yet because i'm well and truly burnt out after the christmas alcohol and other substance abuse fest that always knocks me on my arse, still on the wind down and with work starting up again i'm well and truly bo-locksed with a capital BO.
album releases tend to quiet down this time of year to, but who knows, i may find a little gem worth mentioning here but my next review will probably be another golden oldie.
just been reading the who likes weed thread and mizzyum and kane- nice smoking implements peeps, and utah try it instead of giving the usual fire brimstone hell and damnation lecture. personally i like my bong filled with nice cold water topped up with a bottle of poppers just to get the head buzzing, failing that just lace a bit of sulph into ur mix just to take the edge of the smoke- beautiful....
here's a question for you's...who's your favourite freak brother?? phineas, franklin, freddie or the cat- maybe i'll make a poll, all votes on a postacrd please.
oh yeah, just got round to listening to the foo fighters album and pash your right- nice slamming chunk of rock which compliments a vodka induced buzz to the max, nice one.

If you like Rock'n'Blues..........this one is for you !!!
51 Phantom by North Mississippi allstars.
The buzz for this album has been loud out of the US and it doesn't take long to work out why.
The brothers Dickinson, Luther and Cody, have clearly absorbed much from their daddy Jim and his works with some of the greats.
But with bassist/vocalist Chris Crew, the boys have formed a trio that draws on even wider influences.
There are echo's of Led Zeppelin, a touch of Stevie Ray Vaughan and -- suprise suprise -- more than a smattering of north Mississippi blues given a wider audience by the Fat Possum label.
The playing is exuberant, singing - by Crew and Luther - is strong, and the songs, nine originals and 2 covers, on the money.

Here's another review............................................ .....
White Noise by Alpinestars
Alpinestars snow fixtation continues with their absorbing second album, an altogether more confident and cohesive package than the Manchester duo's 2000 debut.
Their sound is hardly novel, built around the bones of Air, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and OMD. But the outcome is superb, a pristine yet punchy set of synth-based numbers ranging from up-tempo dance to laid-back chill.
The two-part job on "Snow Patrol" is brilliant, but it's on the beautifully melancholic "Burning Up" and "Crystalnight" that Glyn Thomas and Richard Woolgar really shine. Not only are these songs superb examples to the pairs skill at writing melodic pop, they are also models of restraint. Each has the potential to be blown out to lenghty, hypnotic pieces, both songs, instead are kept in tight rein.
This Album won't disappoint !!!!
shoot pash, have you been on a music fest over christmas or what?? either way i'm loving the reviews princess keep 'em coming please..as for me, boy oh boy, i'm here pissed as a fart thinking back to hot sticky summer days...and have i got a beauty for u folks or what!!! all those folks who loves a bit of reggae with a little touch of head fu*k thrown into the equation keep reading, but you'l have to wait to sunday i'm afraid. but don't worry it's worth the wait i promise you's..it may be a hard to find album but listen to what i say, check it out and enjoy, it is da bomb..KABOOOOMNMMMMM!!!
rhythym is a dancer
its a soul's companion, you can feel it everywhere
lift your hands and voices
free your mind and join us, you can feel it in the air
ooohhh it's a passion
ooohhh you can feel it in the air
i know, fu*k up che and get on with it, but you got to admit it was a top disco song back in the day. anyways on with the review......
here's a nice little number for you folks who like your music with a touch of flair to it. now reggae ain't really my scene but dub sure is. what the fu*k is dub? i hear you say, well it's reggae which has been pushed to the limits and thoroughly messed around with, much like what cabaret voltaire did with techno back in the 80's. from a lonely distant horn overlayed with a wandering piano stroke which flows through your soul like a breath of fresh air to disintegrating snares snarled by a relentless echo box with a moody organ riff floating in the background with that vocal sample which grips you by the short and curlies and sucks you into the musical vortex as easy as 1,2,3....this album has it all.
"dubmission2: the remixes" on quango records ( a part of the island group so you can guarantee quality! )
various remixers have taken some of the best tracks from the best dub artistes, eg. gregory isaacs- night nurse get's 2 versions on this album and i've reviewed that album before-real class!!!, black uhuru, burning spear and the riddim bros themselves sly and robbie. ( i'm surprised aswad didn't get a mention on this album, most folks only remember them for don't turn around but in reality they were 1 of the uk's finest acts who along with the above mentioned peeps loved to play around with their reggae and turn out some of the finest dub tunes going )
all wicked tracks, some more subtle than others but all top banana tracks in different ways.....i always keep this album whenever i'm hosting a blues at my house ( blues = big big smoke up for those who don't know ). dub always sorted the men from the boys, you know the feeling, you've just killed that king cone in one and your just getting the "fu*k, i gotta sit down feeling" coming over, bang on track 4 "i and i survive" by burning spear remixed by NY's subdub set up and watch the lightweights buckle under the pressure of this awesome tune- its got the lot, piano, organ, snare and bass and a wicked "do you remeber the days of date rape" vocal sample hauntingly positioned and replayed at perfect positions within the track. be warned tho, i've seen many a good toker turn white around the gills then a nasty shade of green- barf central...wicked if slightly evil track lol, all classic tracks all perfectly transformed into dub classics....find the album, slap it on your stereo and chill out, it's a corker, aiiiii, respect to the dub masterpiece, enjoy.........
ok folks staying with the belly full o' rum west indian flava here is another corker for you.....if your a vintage ska freak this is a must for your collection-" and so shall ye be judged " by judge dread. now this guy was a giant in the ska scene and surprise surprise he was neither black or west indian, whiter than white and more english than st.george, he just loved his ska music. unfortunately he passed away a couple of years back but he will never be forgotten.
this album is a greatest hits of sorts, with tracks ranging from jamaica jerkoff ( e.john/b.taubin- yellow brick road, already been covered in this thread!), bring back the skins, al capone ( h-al capones guns don't h-argue, class track), rudy, ska fever, come outside...the list goes on. also included are a lot of the "big..." series, 6, 9, 1 and 8 are their but unfortunately big 7 isn't- the only disappointing thing about this album which is such a small niggle when compared to the rest of the album it hardly matters. big 7 is my fave of the big series for your information.
so wait for the sun to shine, light up the barbi, get a belly full of rum mohn and skank the night away to the mighty judge- you shall be judged and you will enjoy- believe.......

Been a awhile so here comes a review !!!!
Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Bo$$ by Snoop Dogg.
These days the hip-hop scene doesn't necessarily get excited over a new Snoop Dogg Album.
Snoop's latest effort is good-value entertainment -- and, even though Dr Dre's name is nowhere to be seen in the credits, the beats are tight.
Snoop moves from G-funk into old school R& B with the tracks "I Believe in You" and "Ballin", to tech-hop tracks like "From Tha Chuuuch To Da Palace" by the Neptunes.
Snoop has sworn off the weed -- the inspiration for "I Miss That Bitch" -- and is more focused for it.
Still. Snoop can be nasty when he wants to. Just listen to "Pimp Slapp'd", where he lays into his old death row boss.

And again !!!.........I just couldn't let this one pass !!!
"Bigger Cages, Longer Chains" by The (International) Noise Conspiracy.
After blowing away everyone who saw them at Livid, The (International) Noise Conspiracy have released this powerful and articulate six-track EP.
In a world of vacuous pop starlets T(I)NC manage to combine the philosophical punk of the title track "Bigger Cages, Longer Chains" with the simmering funk of the cover of the N.E.R.D-penned "BabyDoll".
T(I)NC sound like they are trying to change the world but, with a horn section like that on "When Words Are Not Working", these Swedes will have us dancing all the way to the revolution.
Worth a listen !!!
ah pash, once again you have graced this thread with insight, wisdom and above all ass kicking taste ( you must have some south waleian genes in your genetic makeup honey, i'm sure of it ). snoop dog sounds good, in fact i picked it up for a glance over the sleeve on saturday gone....i nearly bought it but feb's gonna be a crazy month for album releases, from krs1, massive attack, radiohead, de la soul, frank zappa, johnny marr, heavy d, orb, blackstreet and the one which i'll be queing outside the shop for- asian dub foundation.
gonna be a blissful month in musical heaven

Um n sync has the best band ever flmao...
ok folks listen up, a nice album here for anyone who likes their music hard fast and synthesised to perfection...and also as an added bonus if any music freak sees this album in your collection your kudos will expand exponentially....
cabaret voltaire, album" radiation: the BBC recordings 84-86 "
kirk and mallinder ( and watson post 1981 ) churned out various albums of different listenability depending on the sanity of the listener, from a purpose built studio in the heart of industrialised steel country, sheffield, england. quality was always guaranteed musically as quality control was the name of the game.
radiation gives us a rare insight into the cab's live on stage, and as the poor old engineers at the beeb didn't have the time or the finances to allow for studio trickery or overdubs, we are treated to the cab's in the raw..along with some different versions to previous classic tracks from various albums. mostly perfomed at maida vale studios in london and usually put out to air by the high lord of music himself- mr. john peel. if any of you folks ever listen to radio on the internet and you like your music then find out when his show is on air tune in and listen up, he is THE god of music on british radio catering for all tastes from the sublime to the ridiculous, if it's good he'll play it.
back to the album:
"sensoria","kind" and "sleepwalking" all exhibit a crisp whiplash neurofunk that really is from the top drawer of techno. "you like to torment me" isn't quite what you would expect from a cab's/bobby orlando collaboration, but the paranoid lyrics, latin percussion and an irresistable mandate to get down and sweaty come together a treat. "we've got heart" introduces some of the middle eastern cadences that kirk used in some of his more recent works.
can't get any better eh?? wrong.....there is a superb version of "i want you" complete with a "new-ordrish" guitar riff, restive synth strings along with mallinders speedfreak vocals make for a classic track, but the icing on the cake ahs to be "sex, money, freaks!" which truly is a techno floor filler no acid, mdma, ketamine or whatever is your buzz fuelled speedfreaking techno head could resist.....enjoy!!!

This Album is captivating !!!!!
" Floetic " by Floetry.
New Britsish soulstressess Floetry can hardly go wrong with their debut.
Their music is a mix of Jill Scott, Ms Dynamite and Les Nubians.
The Brit duo expand their creative horizons with "Floetic", fluidly moving between hip-hop, soulful R& B and spoken word.
Ambrosius is the singer and Stewart is the poet -- or in hip-hop, she flows !!!
Floetry's music is subliminal, with subtle melodies. jazzy arrangements and understated production values.
Floetry are at their best on the melancholy "Sunshine", a story of loss, or, at the other end of the spectrum, the liberating " If I Was a Bird".
There are compelling hip-hop cuts too, such as the stunning "Opera".
But perhaps the biggest surprise on "Floetic" arrrives when Floetry turn out the demo of that number thay gave to Jackson, "Butterflies" -- reclaiming the song as theirs.

"Scorpio righting" by Garageland.
This is one of New Zealands finest popsters.they have returned after a three year break with a beautifully arranged, rich record of old-style radio rock.
The songs on this album are light and sweet without being too sugary, suggesting summer is never to far away.
There are lots of big sing-a-long '70's choruses here, reminiscent of bands like the Replacements and the Big Star, while the harmonies perfectly complement Jerry Eade's distinctive voice.
Best song on the album, "Crazy", it's a foot-stomping retro anthem that contains all that is great about this band in just under 4 minutes.
A foot-tapping album.
hey first off, welcome back to one of my favourite flamers kane, good to see you back. not only did u get yourself banned you also managed to get yourself promoted to moderator, way to go!!!!
now i was going to give you folks a "guaranteed bling bling u da poppa mofo'ing pimp hustla straight outta compton f*ck da police yeahh baby i'm da man gimme five homes top dogs bollock" album review....but, after a very sad weekend sat in front of a computer watching the bullsh!t flow from peoples computers in yahooland i've come to the life shattering realisation that most of the folks who play games really do live on planet wibble. WAKE UP peeps, straight up and down, you folks must really get in touch with reality- it's only a game, not an oppotunity to impress people and make friends, try socialising and making friends you can do things with, like go out for some beers, shoot some pool on a table out back in some seedy smokey bar downtown, then chat up the old boiler sitting at the bar and seeing who will be the twat to get a bj off the old trollope down the alley outside, then spend all night taking the piss out of the poor sod all night as you go on a lager frenzy until dawn.
as you can gather i had a ****e weekend in front of box instead of being out doing something remotely interesting instead- i don't intend doing that again.
f*ck that, che out, enjoy all
some one please inform me when the humour has returned to the site- laters.
ok ok ok, enough of the bitching folks, kane- thanks for the help bud, but my homie g - aka "eat your heart out bill mofoing gates!!" sorted my comp out for me, apparently it was a lame ass trojan not worth the time of day, i made more damage by f'ing around trying to delete stuff than mosucker did, but i am a newbie lamer halfwit non-dweebzoid ( unlike jazz lol ) so the che show keeps on rolling. and limpkinw and other folks out there, you have to choose your friends carefully- f!ck that computer ability sh!t and just chill with folks who have fun and can crack a joke or 2.
yup, i've decided to start up the album reviews again and single reviews to, so get ready, turn your music up and strap your speakers down because boy oh boy i have some top tips coming up crammed with more juicey flavas than j-lo's knicker gusset after a 10 mile bike ride on a hot summers day...u get my meaning?? lol, laters all, more soon..
i have spent 30 minutes on this thread for the last 2 nights typing out reviews on 2 superb albums, and when i press the submit button it says i'm not logged on and i lose everything.
now how frustrating is that? i was going to hit you folks with some reviews but i'm not gonna waste my time with these mickey mouse computers where i work anymore....hopefully i can find time on the weekend as my musical juices are overflowing at the moment- take care peeps and keep on feeling the funk, enjoy
